HelmetHead Cycle™ Revives GIVI Free Shipping Policy

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Apr 14, 2010 — HelmetHead Cycle™ announces that it is once again offering free domestic shipping on GIVI products and accessories to all locations within the lower 48 continental United States.

"Removing the free shipping incentive was a bit of a fluke," comments Jeremy Harris of HelmetHead Cycle™. "For some reason, our accountant was convinced that we were losing too much by offering the incentive in the first place. We fired him," Harris said, refusing to comment on how much is true.

HelmetHead Cycle™ has been offering free domestic shipping on GIVI products for 8 years, and continues to strive in order to keep their prices as low as possible on the brand.

"GIVI will simply not allow us to sell their items at lower prices," says Harris.

HelmetHead Cycle opened for business in 2001, initially with the Helmet Sunblocker™, then moving onto other product lines from brands such as Staintune Exhaust, Ohlins Suspension, Shark Helmets and Vendramini Boots. International shipping is available upon request.

Greater Security, Interactivity and Speed Amongst Primary Focus for HelmetHead Cycle™ Customers

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Jan 28, 2010 — HelmetHead Cycle™ announces that they are using Comodo® for Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards compliance, including vulnerability scanning and EV-SSL certificates.

Several technology partners of Comodo® include Microsoft®, Intel®, Mozilla® (developers of Firefox and Thunderbird), HP®, PKWARE® and Parallels®.

PCI compliance, though not currently a federal law, is mandated by several State laws to force components of the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) into law. Legislatures and industry trade associations are pushing to create federal law around data security and breach notification.

According to pcicomplianceguide.org, "PCI applies to all organizations or merchants, regardless of size or number of transactions, that accepts, transmits or stores any card holder data. Said another way, if any customer of that organization ever pays the merchant directly using a credit card or debit card, then the PCI DSS requirements apply." In other words, all businesses that store, process or transmit payment card holder data must be PCI compliant.

SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates are cryptographic protocols which provide security for communications over networks, such as the internet.

EV-SSL, or Extended Validation SSL, certificates are issued only when website owners and operators establish the legal identity, as well as the operational and physical presence of the website owner, the applicant is the domain name owner, or has exclusive control over the domain name, confirmation of the identity and authority of individuals acting for the website owner as been established, and that documents pertaining to legal obligations are signed by authorized officers, in many cases a legal opinion letter, written by a lawyer and notarized.

Typical EV-SSL certification takes about 2 weeks, but the end result is usually a greater level of encryption between the customer's computer and the hosting web server, resulting in safer transactions of card holder data.

According to Jeremy Harris, application developer for HelmetHead Cycle™, "we do not store financial information on our servers. All payment information is submitted directly through our forms to a credit card processor backend, typically Authorize.net, and only the result of the transaction, the last 4 digits of the credit card, and invoice data is stored on our servers."

"We've implemented a utility where people can directly find what products fit their bike without having to search for them. It's taken about a month to associate our current product catalog to various vehicles and develop the database backend and programming to bring that to the end user. We've also finished developing out a star rating system, rapid wishlist and compare features and the ability for customers to port products directly from their wishlist or compare lists to their shopping cart with as little hassle as possible. These large updates also include a completely different website presence and will be running on entirely different web servers, tuned for faster speed and security, slated for launch towards the middle of February," states Harris. "The goal is to provide a highly interactive environment for the end user as well as provide over 30,000 pages of product data and reviews as fast as possible for anybody searching for anything we may offer."

Launching their website presence in 2001, HelmetHead Cycle™, whose offices reside in the United States, sell motorcycle products to an international market. Their lead product, the Helmet Sunblocker™ has made its way onto over 200 store racks in the United States alone, as well as Canada, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. Other products which they sell, and sometimes directly distribute internationally, include tires, Italian made hard & soft luggage, parts, cleaning agents and supplies, GPS devices and camping supplies. They are also gradually expanding their product offering to include parts and accessories for snowmobiles, ATVs and general purpose accessories for all types of vehicles.

Speedier Motorbike Accessories Online

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Jan 13, 2010 — HelmetHead Cycle™ is proposing several changes to structure in early 2010 to greater empower their online playing field.

HelmetHead Cycle™, based in Georgia, US, is slated to change hosting companies in the first quarter of 2010. "We're currently developing on SliceHost servers, a subsidiary of RackSpace", says Jeremy Harris, director of the IT department for HelmetHead Cycle™.

Though not yet hosting with a fully dedicated server, the VPS, or Virtual Private Server, offerings of SliceHost will enhance the speed of the site by providing features such as RAID-10 disk storage and 4-core servers.

"In order to secure our position as an online store with a lot of competition, we feel that this move may help to bridge the gap to some of our larger competitors. Hosting, alone, means beans to the general public, but with a stronger backend pushing out our content, we hope that the general public will feel that the site is speedy," says Harris.

HelmetHead Cycle™ has programmed their own shopping cart software, integrating security protocols such as network scanning and EV-SSL over the past 3 years. The company plans on launching a simplified facelift over the next several weeks, as search engine companies, such as Google, will soon be factoring in site speed for overall site rankings.

"In the past year and a half, we have programmed a mammoth framework backend to the site. It's essentially the drivetrain of a vehicle. What you see is the car body and color, but the backend is underneath the car. We're going to simplify our frontend, or web presence to a slight degree, throw in a few interactive features and hope for the best," Harris remarks.

HelmetHead Cycle™ has been in the e-commerce industry since 2001, initially beginning with their Helmet Sunblocker™ product. They have since expanded to include major product lines from GIVI, Staintune, Held, Famsa, Bridgestone, Pirelli and about 70 other manufacturers on the website alone. Over 25,000 SKU items are available by phone order. Dealer agreements for the Helmet Sunblocker reside in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Spain. International shipments of all products are available to every country in the world.

HelmetHead Cycle™ Celebrates Eight Years of Italian GIVI® Products

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Oct 15, 2009 — HelmetHead Cycle™ announces eight years of carrying GIVI® accessories, an Italian company founded by Mr. Giuseppe Visenzi over 30 years ago, world reknown for their hard luggage accessories for motorcycles and scooters.

A talented rider, Mr. Visenzi distinguished himself in a series of motorcycle races in the sixties, winning third place in the World Championship for 350cc in 1969. After leaving the race world, his passion for motorcycles, together with his determination, led him to commit himself in the planning and realization of motorcycle accessories establishing the GIVI® company, which in a very short time has become one of the most important and competitive producers of motorcycle accessories, nationally and worldwide.

The modern GIVI® reality is a vision which has taken shape over the years. The idea to combine an Italian design, a strong technological attitude and a great specific knowledge of materials. It is the development of a quality idea which makes a small factory in Brescia grow to the actual dimensions and mundial fame of today.

GIVI® employs more than 150 employees in the production centers located in Italy, Europe and the U.S.A, with the same determination today as they had 30 years ago. From this philosophy brings to life GIVI®'s coined "Head Protection System," with who they entered into the helmet domain with a strong focus on security.

GIVI® uses a consistent care that has been translated into the introduction of technological solutions of great functionality, detailed care and maximum reliability. At the base of their items, from the smallest accessory to the top range helmet, there are always the two inseparable elements of highly innovative technology and recognized hand-made Italian quality.

Since 2001, HelmetHead Cycle™ has sold powersport accessories internationally, initially starting with their Helmet Sunblocker™ product, and since expanding to offer over 10,000 products on their site. Over 25,000 SKUs are available, in total, with relationships with more than 60 suppliers. Helmet Sunblocker™ dealer arrangements exist throughout the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.

HelmetHead Cycle™ Reintroduces Zox® Helmet Lineup

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Oct 14, 2009 — As the saying goes, "due to popular demand," HelmetHead Cycle™ has reintroduced the Zox® helmet product line to their online product offering.

According to Zox's® website, "what sets Zox® helmets apart is our relentless pursuit of advancements in technology and design. Zox® helmets are assembled with the latest materials using state-of-the-art computer designed unique graphics, colors and patterns ensuring a long-lasting highly durable finish."

Known for their quality, fit, craftsmanship, style and comfort, Zox® helmets are certified to ISO 9001-2000 standards. Designed and developed to exceed all expectations, every Zox® helmet is subjected to extensive testing to ensure compliance with the most recognized safety standards in the business.

All Zox® helmets incorporate an adjustable aeration system that provides maximum ventilation for warm weather riding comfort. Cool air is drawn into the helmet through intake scoops on the chin and brow and then circulated over the rider's head via deep channeling of the absorption liner. Extractor vents at the side, rear and top are positioned to pull out the stale hot air as the cool air enters, providing controlled, maximum airflow for maximum riding comfort while providing the "most comfortable helmets available today," according to Zox®.

The current Zox® helmet lineup includes full face, open face, motocross and snowmobile models, ranging from 5XL to 2XL sizes throughout various models. Many graphics styles are used throughout these models as well.

Top line Zox® helmet models are DOT approved and Snell certified as well, exceeding the stringent safety standards established by the industry.

HelmetHead Cycle™ Cuts a Different Angle in the Product Review Pie

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Jun 19, 2009 — Many online stores offer a way to add product reviews to their products, but HelmetHead Cycle™ has decided to take a different approach in their commenting tool. Shoppers and site lurkers may not only respond to the actual product, or topic, at hand like most other sites allow, but also directly to other user's posts as well.

"What we've essentially developed is a multi-threaded hierarchy tree which branches out according to how users respond to other users. For instance, if three people were to respond directly to the topic, the tree would go straight down, but once someone responds to another user's post, the tree starts to branch out. It can go out indefinitely, or until we decide to lock the thread," says Jeremy Harris, lead software developer for the company.

Threaded rendering of posts is common with several commercially available software packages, but HelmetHead Cycle™ has chosen to do this themselves to try to attain a higher level of integration with the site, especially in the likes of searching and visitor trending.

"We're going to step it up to the next level very soon. We've taken a lot of ideas from Facebook and Twitter, as well as a blog hosted by a major news network to come up with our ideas. For instance, if one were to copy and paste a link from another site into their message box, the program will be able to tell the title of their link's page, as well as get a description without the user having to type anything else. A thumbnail image of that page's content might also be available for inclusion. We're essentially trying to build a community presence here, not just a simple product review board, which typically favor the first branch of our tree," says Harris.

HelmetHead Cycle™ will soon be expanding into a service for people to buy and sell their own bikes, ATVs, four-wheelers and snowmobiles. The company also accepts photo submissions for inclusion on the page margins, which are able to be zoomed and sifted through. The forum utility will encompass the entire scope of their offering.

Since 2001, HelmetHead Cycle™ has sold powersport accessories internationally, initially starting with their Helmet Sunblocker™ product, and since expanding to offer over 9,100 products on their site at the time of writing. 25,000 SKUs are available in total with relationships with more than 60 suppliers and the Helmet Sunblocker™ now has dealer arrangements throughout the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.

HelmetHead Cycle™ Expands Free Shipping Policy To Nearly Half of Their Online Catalog

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Jun 8, 2009 — HelmetHead Cycle™ announces that they have expanded their free shipping on orders shipping to the lower 48 continental United States to cover 4,866 SKUs at the time of press writing.

"A quick glance on the site shows 1,886 results," explains Jeremy Harris, lead software developer and director of Internet Marketing, "however once you expand that into variations of each product, and the SKUs they represent, that number is currently blown up to 4,866." Whatever the number is, most people are probably not counting, yet they offer a glimpse into the wide range of products the company is offering free shipping on. "If you divide that as a percentage of the total products we offer on the site alone [as we have over 25,000 SKUs available for order through outside sources], you're looking at about half of them with free domestic shipping," says Harris.

HelmetHead Cycle™ strives for volume, instead of the most money obtained through each sale. "Not only do we try to keep our shipping prices low, we sometimes make the mistake of charging too little for certain products. Honestly, some of the prices on other items could come down as well, but due to agreements with several of our distributors we have to adhere to policy," Harris said. "In the end, we feel that most customers are getting a great product at a great value. If they don't think so, they probably will shop elsewhere. However, customer service goes a long way, and many people have shopped with us and have told us they found it cheaper somewhere else. We do try to price match whenever possible, just to keep our customers happy and returning."

HelmetHead Cycle™ is a small company, located in the mountains of Northeast Georgia, though known on social networks to be in the Atlanta area. Since 2001, they have been selling motorcycle accessories online, beginning with the Helmet Sunblocker, and eventually expanding into major product lines from the likes of GIVI, Bridgestone Tires, Held, Staintune Exhaust, Motolight, Ohlins Suspension, Garmin and many others. At the time of press writing, products from 87 manufacturers can be ordered immediately via the site, with shipping possibilities to every country in the world.

"If you're not shipping to the continental U.S., we will strive to give you the best rates available wherever you are," says Harris.

HelmetHead Cycle™ Launches Photo Sharing Utility

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, May 12, 2009 — HelmetHead Cycle™ announces the release of a public photo sharing utility on their web site in order to stimulate community presence as well as generate a more interactive presence in an otherwise typical shopping cart.

The photo sharing utility is intended to give the casual shopper a community-oriented experience, while encouraging others to submit their own photos to the network. Future feature sets for the photo sharing utility will include the ability to start forum topics from, as well as rate the photos. Users have the option to upload up to 50 megabytes (Mb) of images at a time and also have the capability to "scroll" through images on the site without leaving the current page they are on.

In March, HelmetHead Cycle™ launched a new web site which will enable a modular approach to feature releases, including an integrated forum for the product and public image pages and the stitching for a utility which will allow shoppers to sell something of their own — their bikes, ATVs, snowmobiles and quads.

"We feel that the economy is taking a toll on everybody right now and hopefully shoppers will find that a more interactive experience will encourage shoppers to tell their friends about our own site," explains Jeremy Harris, lead developer for the company. "A typical shopping cart will only allow others to buy goods from a store. We feel that the increased exposure time on the site will help generate sales leads, whether subliminally or directly."

In 2001, HelmetHead Cycle™ launched with their foundation product, the Helmet Sunblocker. They eventually expanded to other product lines from GIVI, Famsa, Held, Staintune, most major tire manufacturers as well as a large assortments of others. At the time of release, there are SKUs available from 83 manufacturers on the site, and a large variety of others by phone order.

HelmetHead Cycle™ Responds To Fluctuating Economy With Big Incentive

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Apr 10, 2009 — HelmetHead Cycle™ announces that they are offering free shipping on major product lines, as well as souping-up the user experience.

HelmetHead Cycle™ has just announced that they are offering free shipping on several major product lines, including Bell Helmets, Suomy Helmets, GIVI Italian Luggage, Ohlins Suspension, Helmet Sunblocker, Staintune Australian Stainless Exhausts and Motolight.

"The economy is in the shreds for a lot of people right now," says Jeremy Harris, media coordinator and web application developer for the company. "We're not only offering the free shipping as a way to boost our bottom line, but we're hoping that customers can feel a sigh of relief when they browse the site, knowing they don't have to pay extra for shipping."

HelmetHead Cycle™ is based just outside of Atlanta, Georgia and does not offer the free shipping on the mentioned product lines outside of the lower continental United States (e.g. Alaska and Hawaii), however, according to Harris, "we do not profit off of any additional shipping charges incurred while shipping to these locations."

HelmetHead Cycle™ has been an ecommerce retailer of motorcycle and powersport accessories since 2001 and ships to more than 180 countries, internationally. Originally offering  only the  Helmet Sunblocker, it has since expanded to more than 25,000 available SKUs by telephone order.  The site currently has 9,000 SKUs ready to order immediately, however, "securing product images for a lot of the SKUs online has been somewhat of an issue since we launched a new site in early April," exclaims Harris. "We have developed a photo upload feature where users can upload photos of their rides, extra images, or even entire product manuals via .jpg, .gif, or .pdf document formats".

"In keeping with the Jones's, so to speak, we're trying to catch up to some of the bigger players out there. Only time will tell, however we're working on some features that are uncommon across typical shopping carts, trying to bring a whole new level of interaction to the playing field," says Harris. And, yes, only time will tell.

HelmetHead Cycle™ Offers EV SSL Protection

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Apr 4, 2009 — HelmetHead Cycle™ is now using 256-bit Extended Validation Secure Socket Layer (EV SSL) encryption on their secured pages to help protect customer's data.

While EV-SSL is not mandated to be PCI Compliant (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard), a set of requirements designed to ensure that all companies which handle credit card information maintain a secure environment, HelmetHead Cycle™ has taken the legal steps necessary to obtain their EV SSL seal.

EV SSL is characterized by the browser URL bar turning green on secured pages (designated by "https://" in the URL bar) in most modern web browsers. EV SSL certificates require the most stringent verification processes of all other SSL certificates.

High profile incidents of fraud and phishing scams have made Internet users very concerned about identity theft. Before they enter sensitive data, they want proof that the website can be trusted and their information will be encrypted. Without it, they might abandon their transaction and do business elsewhere. EV SSL Certificates provide third-party verification using a highly visual display that gives consumers confidence and builds trust in e-commerce.

Today's fastest growing threat is phishing, where a fraudulent web site impersonates a legitimate business to attract unsuspecting visitors into divulging personal information. The increasing awareness to this problem has caused consumers to not trust buying online.

Dealer agreements for the Helmet Sunblocker™ reside in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Spain. International shipments of all products are available to every country in the world.

HelmetHead Cycle™ To Don New Suit

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Mar 20, 2009 — HelmetHead Cycle™ announces new interface for their online store, due out in a few weeks to help users navigate their product inventory more efficiently.

The new interface is part of an on-going effort the enhance the store's appeal to all biker markets, from the older crowd with use of high contrasting colors and large print throughout, to the younger crowd with a modernized approach to shopping. Product pages have a complex variation system, written in Javascript, which enables one to "click and choose” the product they are looking for while the image, product description and various other page elements respond to each variation change as soon as the user clicks their mouse and without having to reload the page.

A "photo explorer" utility is being developed specifically for the site to allow users to upload and share their riding experiences and trips with one another.  "We hope to establish a community presence," says Jeremy Harris, director of IT marketing for the company. Along the same lines, a custom built forum utility is being intertwined across the entire site, making for a different approach to basic product commenting pages. "It's basically a commenting tool on steroids, where users can subscribe to other user's posts via RSS, or possibly even some social networks. We want people to keep coming back, no matter what it takes," Harris remarks.

For the rider who is looking to rid of his old bike, or someone looking to buy a new one, HelmetHead Cycle™ is also laying the turf for a buy and sell feature, which will simultaneously broadcast the listings via RSS, Twitter and other social media, while showing the machines on a dedicated section of the site. "We're choosing an approach to this unlike what we've seen before. I truly believe the more interactivity a site has, the better off it is in the long run. If anything else, we'll just have a lot of traffic," Harris states optimistically.

"We've got a lot on our plate [as far as new features go], however the new interface has taken us over 9 months to develop at this point and it's looking pretty solid," says Harris. The new interface is posed to be a remarkable improvement over the past years of several shopping carts, being developed completely by HelmetHead Cycle™.

HelmetHead Cycle™ launched in 2001 with the Helmet Sunblocker™ as their initial product offering. They have since expanded to include major product lines from GIVI, Staintune, Held, Famsa, Bridgestone, Pirelli and about 70 other manufacturers on the website alone. Over 25,000 SKU items are available by phone order. Dealer agreements for the Helmet Sunblocker™ reside in the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Spain. International shipments of all products are available to every country in the world.

HelmetHead Cycle™ Launches Safety Campaign

For immediate release

ATLANTA, Georgia, Sep 11, 2007 — HelmetHead Cycle™ has recently launched a "THINK! Motorcycle Safety" campaign (http://www.helmetheadcyclegear.com/think) which "will help motorcyclists and general motorists everywhere be more informed of the dangers and safety precautions of riding a motorcycle," reports Jeremy Harris, media coordinator for the company.

"We've chosen to name our new campaign "THINK!" after a United Kingdom based website (http://www.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk/campaigns/motorcycles.htm) of the same name. "THINK! Road Safety" is their slogan. We're not trying to compete with them in any fashion, but rather further their own efforts. We liked what we saw on their website and decided we"d start a campaign of our own, using the same name, for familiarity," states Harris.

HelmetHead Cycle™ is currently seeking submissions from motorcycle safety instructors, people who have had accidents or anyone else to supplement this section of their website and is offering two Helmet Sunblockers™ sun visors, which retail for $15.95 (U.S. currency) each, to contributors.

"We're currently looking for any kind of content that will make this section worth its weight. Such content includes pictures, stories, even video which we may post on our site. We feel that, being in the motorcycle accessories business, and gradually moving into the parts market, we should offer a means to educate the beginner, as well as remind the pros, of how to ride their bikes the safest way possible. We want them alive so they can buy from us again!" jokes Harris.

On August 21, MSNBC & Associated Press posted "a single airplane crash could lead to public outcries while more than 40,000 deaths on the roads fail to generate much response," according to safety groups. Jacqueline Gillan, vice president of Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety reported that "countermeasures we are pursuing may be good, but they"re not enough".

"I'm just trying to do my part in helping riders out there be more informed that they are sharing the road with some crazy people out there. We've had a lot of fatalities in our own town (near Atlanta, GA) over the past year. It"s really sickening," Jeremy Harris says.

HelmetHead Cycle™ has been an industry leading motorcycle accessories website since 2001, initially starting off with their Helmet Sunblocker™ and continues to expand their product lineup to offer accessories that, as they say, "every rider can use.
